about

"Whap Blues" was written after guitarist, Brian Kane, was talking about the old organ trios in the sixties that would have tunes where the organ would just hold a Dominant #9 chord and the soloists would play over that.

That's what we're doing in the first two choruses of each solo.

(For the uninitiated, a Dominant #9 chord is what Jimi Hendrix is playing at the beginning of "Purple Haze".)

The title comes from bassist, Al Obidinski, who would always yell "Whap!" on each accent hit during the "head".
